Home State: Louisiana

Species and Breeds Shown: Brahman and Beefmaster cattle along with market steers.

Favorite Breed: Brahmans
Why? The people in the Brahman association are great and the cattle are so different from any other breed from attitude to animal!

Favorite Stock Show: Louisiana State Fair and NAILE
Why? They are both fun-filled shows with lots of competition and I'm always able to spend plenty of time with other showman and breeders.

Favorite Judge: Sherman Jones, Texas
Why? He will work a showman to death in showmanship (I love that!) and he will tell you everything you have done right and wrong in the show ring. Every animal has a fair shot in the ring and so do all the showman. Even if you are in last place, he will make you feel like you are in first place when you are walking out of the show ring.

How old were you when you first started showing? 6 years old

What is your biggest accomplishment in the show ring? LCA Champion Senior Showman, winning LSU Spring Livestock show 4 years running with Beefmasters.

Who is your hero? My hero would have to be my daddy, Reggie Lucas.

If you could go to lunch with anyone at a stock show, who would it be and why? Probably Alex Dees from Arizona. He is an old cowman with a lot of knowledge about cattle.

Who is the person who has helped you the most with your show projects? I would have to say my brother, Heath Lucas.

On a typical school day, what time do you have to get up in the morning? 5:00 a.m.

What is your daily routine you use when working with your project? Feeding at 5 a.m. Coming in from school and going to take care of the steer and work with the Brahmans and Beefmasters then feed them at 5 p.m.

Favorite tip about showing: Be competitive, but have fun doing it.

What’s your typical show ring attire? Nice ironed button down shirt (usually a solid color) Cruel Girl jeans, my belt, with my brown square toe boots.

Do you do anything differently when you’re in showmanship versus when you’re just showing in the show? I become a little more competitive in showmanship.

If you have a choice, would you rather wash the animals or get them dry? I would much rather wash!

Besides showing, what are your hobbies? Going to nursing school, hanging with my friends.

About how many shows to you get to go to each year? Around 12.

What’s the one show supply you just couldn’t live without on show day? Final Bloom!

Do you have any “good luck charms” about showing? I always wear my hair down and a special show stick.
